Obituary for Marjorie Janis Oberholtzer (Page)

Marjorie Janis Oberholtzer (Page)
Marjorie Janis Page Oberholtzer passed away in Rifle, CO on October 26, 2011.  Marge was born on April 19, 1927 in Del Norte, CO, the daughter of Lloyd and Beulah Page.  Marge married Jack Gredig (deceased) and had two daughters: Cynthia Lynn Anderson of Falls Church, VA, and Claudia Sue Means of Buffalo, WY.  In 1960, she married Carol Oberholtzer and acquired three step-children: Carol Ann Cantrell of Plano, TX, Sharon Kay Compton of Paonia, CO and C. Edward Oberholtzer of Norwalk, CN.

Carl and Marge made their home in Vista, CA, then Marble Falls, TX and then retired to Rifle, CO.  Marge loved to play golf and she became a very active member of the Women's Organization at Rifle Creek Golf Course, serving as its president for several years.  She founded the Three-Day Invitational Tournament and served as its chairman for a number of years.  She was Club Champion several times, and won many amateur tournaments around the country over the years.

Marge was a very active and devoted member of the Rifle United Methodist Presbyterian Church, serving on its Board of Trustees and Finance Committee.  She was a mainstay in the United Methodist Women's group, serving as its president and using her gifts of organization, hospitality and creativity to make their many functions very unique and special.  She was well-known for her gift of decorating, spending countless hours designing and hand making the many "theme" items she liked to use.

In addition to church and golf, Marge was an avid gardener.  She spent hours each summer planting and tending her flower gardens and her cascading pools where she kept her beautiful koi fish.  She also loved to play cards and was a formidable opponent!

Marge will be remembered and loved by those fortunate enough to have known her for her quiet generosity and positive outlook on life; her unconditional love and loyalty to friends and family, and her deep and abiding faith in God.

Marge leaves behind her two daughters; three step-children; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 4th at 11:00 am at the Rifle United Methodist Presbyterian Church.  Officiating will be Pastor Rich Stoakes, dear friend to Marge and her family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rifle United Methodist Presbyterian Church, 200 E 4th St, Rifle, CO  81650.
