Obituary for Charlie R. Diaz

Charlie R. Diaz
Charlie R. Diaz
May 15, 1933 ~ October 1, 2012

Charlie R. Diaz, 79, of Silt passed away October 1, 2012 from complications of pneumonia.

Charlie was born in Silt, the eleventh of twelve children, to Dionisio and Petra (Tovar) Diaz.

Charlie worked his entire life to provide for his family.  He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Garfield County Road & Bridge for 38 years.  His retirement in 1994 lasted all of one winter.  He realized retirement wasn't for him, so he went back to work.  He was fulfilling his dream of being a rancher by working as caretaker of a cattle ranch up Divide Creek.  Charlie loved to hunt and fish, but his passion was gardening.

On March 13, 1968, he married Mary Andreatta and they had two daughters, Rita & Teresa.

Charlie was preceded in death by his wife Mary; daughter Rita; brothers Frank, Steve & Harry; sisters Jovita, Molly, Christine & Toni.

He is survived by his daughter Teresa; girlfriend Kate; brothers Joe, Ted & Eugene; and sister Betty.

A viewing is scheduled for Friday, October 5, 2-4pm at Rifle Funeral Home, directly followed by the Rosary.

A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, October 6, at 11:00am at Veteran's Park in Silt.  Interment at Skyline Cemetery will follow immediately.

Following the service there will be a potluck lunch back at the park.  Bring your stories and memories and don't forget to bring your lawn chair.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Alpine Bank in Charlie's name.
