Obituary for Missy Morton (Sainsbury)

Margaret "Missy" Sainsbury Morton, born in 1920, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct 6th in Rifle, Colorado.

Graduated from Grinnell College in May of 1942, Missy eloped one month later with George Thomas Morton who was in officer training school in Key West, Florida. She had her first son while George was overseas during WWII and three other children thereafter. She was a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. Missy was a long time resident of the Kansas City area where she resided from 1948 until 1994. She loved her many friends and was an avid bridge player.

She was married 51 years until her husband’s death in 1993. Her beloved daughter Susan, also preceded her in death in 1982.

She is survived by her son Tom and wife Debbie of Glenwood Springs, Colorado; her son John and wife Harriett of Mercer Island, Washington; and her daughter Melissa and husband Robert McKillip of Hopewell, New Jersey.

Missy moved to New Jersey with her daughter’s family after her husband’s death until March of 2011. She then went to a nursing home near her son in Colorado where she was well taken care of until her death. She has 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

The family will have a private service to celebrate her life.
