John Peter Wahlman, 79, passed away Monday, August 5, 2013 at his home in Battlement Mesa with his family at his side.

John was born in Negaunee, MI. to Edgar Wahlman and Cecelia (Sunblad) Wahlman on August 6, 1933.

On August 31, 1955, John married Mary Jane Renowden. They had two sons, Richard and Joseph Wahlman, and a daughter, Jane Chapman. John and Mary Jane have lived in Battlement Mesa for the last 12 years, after moving from Ishpeming, MI., also known as "The U.P."

John worked as an engineer for Cleveland Cliffs Iron Co. before he retired after 33 years.
He was a member of the Lion's Club and the Kiwanis. He was also a member of the Grand Valley United Methodist Church in Battlement Mesa.

John is survived by his wife, Mary Jane. His children, Richard, Joseph, and Jane. He is also survived by six grand children; Jennifer, John, Michael, David, Catlyn, and Jacob, and by his great grand children; John Jacob, Julia, Whitney, Cecelia, Grant, Alexis, Gary, Matthew, and Aizlyn.

A Memorial Service was held Sunday, August 11, at the Grand Valley United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, family suggests any memorials be made to the Grand Valley United Methodist Church in Battlement Mesa or to the Hospice of the Valley.
