Obituary for Kenneth Roberts

Kenneth  Roberts
Kenneth D. Roberts, Sr. of Rifle, Colorado, passed away October 22, 2013 at the age of 79 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado, following a brief illness. Ken was born May 20, 1934, to Henry Fenon and Ora Belle Williams Roberts in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He grew up in Arkansas and Oregon before settling in Auburn, California, where he attended schools and spent many years of his life. He married Nathalie Korb on May 17, 1958 in Sparks, Nevada.
Ken loved his family, and was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He lived to see his first great-grandchild born on September 21, 2013.
He was a past member of the Eureka Masonic Lodge #16, in Auburn, California.
Ken was a hard worker and entrepreneur who spent his lifetime working in the log trucking business in both California and Colorado. After moving to Colorado Ken and his son and son-in-law formed a trucking business for log hauling. Later, he got involved in timber marketing and helicopter logging. In 1993 Ken and his wife opened a business in Rifle called Bookkeeping To Go, Inc., later, the name was changed to RifleWorks.
He was preceded in death by his father, “Fenton” Roberts, his mother Ora Belle Roberts, step-mother, Lucy Roberts and sister, Patsy Kanes.
Ken was a wonderful father and grandfather and enjoyed getting together at family gatherings and an occasional trip to local casinos. He liked to travel and spend time taking cruises and enjoying the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth D. Roberts, Jr. (Doreen), and daughter, Cynthia Winschell (Steve) of Rifle. Three grandchildren, Steven Winschell (Mindy), Bryan Winschell (Brooke Wiening) and Alyssa Winschell and great-grandchild, Camden Winschell. He was loved by so many and will be remembered for his kind and gentle disposition.
Per Ken’s request, cremation has taken place, and his life will be celebrated at a private family gathering.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to The Salvation Army.
