Evelyn Roberta James Brooks, 92, of Rifle passed away September 26, 2011.
 
Evelyn was born December 23, 1918, one of nine children - Lucille, Audre, Leonard, Norman, Donald, Evelyn, Beryl, Marjorie and Gordon.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents Paul & Clara James; her husband Stanley M. Brooks; one great grandchild; and all eight of her siblings.
 
Evelyn graduated from Appleton High School and attended Ross Business College.  She worked at Rifle Hardware until marrying Stanley on May 12, 1939.  The couple had two children, Vicki Brooks Choate and Larry Brooks.  After raising her children, Evelyn returned to work at Rifle Hardware from 1959 until her retirement.  She worked as the store manager for several years.  Evelyn was a member of the First Christian Church in Rifle, serving as treasurer for several years.
 
Evelyn leaves behind her children Vicki and Larry; 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
 
Funeral Services will be held Monday, October 3, 10:00 am at the First Christian Church. 
Interment will follow immediately at Rose Hill Cemetery in Rifle.
