Jerry Zywiec

Jerry Zywiec, 44, of Silt, died Saturday, June 23 at Lake Powell, Utah, doing what he loved to do; spending time with his son, Cole and Cole's friends. 
 
Jerry was born on September 21, 1967 in Columbus, Nebraska to Gene & Dee (Kosiba) Zywiec.  He graduated from Scotus Central Catholic High School where he met his wife of 22 years, Mic Ruzicka.
 
In 1991, they relocated to the Denver area where Jerry worked for Western Distributing and Coors.  Jerry's great joy in life came when his son Cole joined the family.  When they moved to Silt in 2002, Jerry became an active member of the Roaring Fork Valley.  His passion for the mountains led him to opening a snowmobile rental company.  In addition to JM Adventure Rentals, Jerry worked for Lyon Construction. He was also a leader of the Rifle Snowmobile Club.  This move also introduced him to Three Rivers Youth Football League where he served on the Board of Directors for years, most recently as President.  Jerry's passion for coaching led him to Riverside Middle School where he spent two years with the football program.  From there, to Coal Ridge High School where he spent the last four years.  Jerry's drive to succeed influenced so many boys, his loss will echo through the years.
 
He is preceded in death by his grandparents and his mother-in-law, Carolyn (Jedlicka) Ruzicka.
 
Jerry is survived by his wife; his son; parents; father-in-law Emil (Judy) Ruzicka; brother Gary (Cindy); sister Sherri; sister-in-law Pam Ruzicka (David Vanderhoof); nephews Nick, Michael & niece Abbi.
 
Mass will be held Thursday, June 28, 4:00 pm at St. Mary Catholic Church in Rifle.  A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Friday, June 29, 10:00 am at Coal Ridge High School.
