Obituary for Milton Warren "Huck" McPherson

Warren McPherson, 88, a lifelong resident of Western Colorado at Silt, Rifle and Grand Junction passed away October 14, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction.

Warren was born to Daniel A. and Mary E. McPherson at Silt, into a large family of 11 children. Having been raised on a farm/ranch immediately south of Silt, he married Geraldine(Jerry) Harper, a Denver girl that he met in a barley field during harvest on Divide Creek, in June 1945. Two sons, Mick and Gale, were born to their marriage. Warren and Jerry were both united with Christ in January 1947 and became faithful Christians and members of the First Baptist Church at Silt from 1947 until their respective deaths.

Also in 1945, Warren joined his brothers in a family partnership, farming and ranching in sheep and cattle on the Silt home ranch and in the Grand Junction area for twenty years until 1965. He continued in partnership with his younger brother, Dale, on Divide Creek and later on his own until retirement in the mid-80's. A Colorado outdoorsman, Warren was an avid hunter/fisherman who collected fish and wildlife trophies in Colorado, British Columbia and Alaska.

Jerry, his wife of 37 years, passed away in 1982. God was gracious to Warren. He re-married in 1983 to Ida L. Figurski of Rifle, she having lost her husband 'Buss' several years before. Warren and Ida continued living near Silt-and remained faithful members in the Silt church, where he was a deacon and trustee, even after they moved to Grand Junction in 1994. For over a decade beginning in the late '80's, they traveled to Alaska nearly every year, for a few months of salmon fishing on the Kenai Peninsula.
Warren was predeceased in death by all of his older siblings and their spouses. He is survived by Ida, her two daughters Jerilee Bussell (Jerry Lynn) of Farmington, NM, and Linda Heinrich (Scott) of Phoenix, AZ; his two sons, Mick McPherson (Pat) of Barnsdall, OK, and Gale McPherson (Mary) of Durango, CO; two younger sisters, Stella McClung of Klamath Falls, OR, Natalie Meisner of Casa Grande, AZ, and younger brother Dale McPherson of Grand Junction and Divide Creek; Jerry's sister Jean Bottorff, of Denver, CO; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 40+ nephews and nieces of the McPherson, Bagley, Raley, McClung, Meisner and Bottorff families, and many friends.

His family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Grand Villa Assisted Living facility in Grand Junction for their kind care of Warren and Ida in recent years.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memoria1 contributions to the American Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.

Memorial Services for Mr. McPherson will be held Saturday, October 20, 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Silt, followed by burial at the Divide Creek Cemetery. Lunch will be served prior to the service at 12:00 at the church.
