Obituary for John F. Todd

John F. Todd
John F. Todd, 82, of Rifle passed away January 15, 2013 at Grand River Hospital.

John was born August 10, 1930 in Minot, ND to Leslie & Emma (Portman) Todd. He married Shirley A. Brown on February 3, 1952, in Yuma, AZ.

John was an amazing man. He worked hard his entire life to support his family. After serving nine years in the Navy, John got out and started his sales career. He began in a furniture store, later moving to a car dealership, while finding the time to own and run a bar. After moving to Colorado in 1965, John worked at Mallot Chevy in Rifle for several years. He then went to work for Dick Wheeler, Inc. as the service manager, later moving to sales. John left the car business to open Todd & Associates Real Estate in Rifle. After closing the store John opened his own car lot. He then moved to Rifle Ford where he worked as manager. Later he worked for Berthod Motors as a salesman and Fleet Manager. He retired in 2006.

Other than his family, his two great passions in life were flying and snowmobiling. Over the years, John owned and flew three different airplanes, ending up with a Cessna 182. You didn't have to do much talking to get John to go snowmobiling. He was the first on the mountain and the last off.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; brother Samuel Woodrow Anderson; and sister Peggy Arnold.

He leaves behind his son, J. Mike Todd; daughters Vicki L. (Charles) Todd and Donna M. Deutsch (Bret Peterson); grandchildren Kristine Llacuna, Steven (Carmen) Llacuna, Teresa (Caleb) Horton, Mike J. Todd, Alicia Todd, Mandi (Josh) Hernandez and Corby Deutsch; great-grandchildren Caton & Miles Llacuna, LeeLand & Bailee Hernandez, Conner & Aaron Enlow, Brennan Horton and Adalynn Todd. John will be sorely missed by all.

Services are planned for Saturday, January 26, 10:30am at the Rifle Elks Lodge.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society.

The light in the window was always on for those who needed him.
