Sam Chester

Sam Chester, 91, longtime resident of Aspen, passed away June 11, 2013 at Heritage Park Care Center in Carbondale.

Sam was born September 5, 1920, in The Bronx, NY to Morris & Gussie Schechter. He proudly served his country in the Merchant Marines during WWII. Sam belonged to the Master Foxhounds Association. He was a very active outdoorsman. He loved sailing in his youth, and skiing and horseback riding during his years in Aspen.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Joseph Schecter.

He leaves behind his sister-in-law, Trinette Schecter; and nephews, Maurice Schecter of Boca Raton, Florida and Charles Schecter, M.D. of Corpus Christie, Texas.

Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sam Chester Veterans Memorial Fund at US Bank.
